Ms. Kathy J. Gaillard is one of the principals of Mosaic Communications, a full service public relations agency she recently founded along with her two partners. Mosaic is a state-certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE).

Most recently Gaillard served as interim press secretary to Mayor Tom Barrett. Prior to founding Mosaic Communications, Gaillard worked as an Account Supervisor with one of the largest public relations agencies in Milwaukee. Her responsibilities included work on a variety of client projects including consumer goods, special events, media relations, community relations, marketing research and crisis communications.

A Milwaukee native, Gaillard who has more than 25 years of experience in public relations and communications, lived in San Diego for seven years. She has substantial public relations, community relations, marketing research and internal communications experience. She has served as Marketing Director with Capitol Court Shopping Center, as Senior Public Information Office with the City of San Diego, as a Consumer Research Analyst with San Diego Gas and Electric, and as Consumer Relations Specialist and Manager of Consumer Affairs – Urban Outreach for Wisconsin Gas Company. She also served as Communications Specialist for Journal Communications, the parent company of the Journal Sentinel, Inc., and WTMJ radio and television stations.

Gaillard has a breadth of experience working with and for Milwaukee’s minority media. She has written columns for both the Milwaukee Community Journal and The Milwaukee Times. She has also successfully published articles in Decision Magazine, a monthly publication produced by the Billy Graham Evangelism Association; Black Collegiate Magazine, Black Women 50 Plus Magazine and is the former editor of the National Association of Baptist Women’s Union’s quarterly newsletter, The Tie, a publication with a readership of more than 60,000 women throughout the United States.

Gaillard has participated as a speaker and workshop facilitator with a number of organizations, including conducting multicultural marketing workshops at the 2004 Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Green Bay, Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Continuing Education Center’s Entrepreneurial Seminar.

Gaillard is a YMCA Black Achiever alumnus and Future Milwaukee alumnus. She serves on the Board of Directors of Professional Dimensions (an organization of 350+ professional women), where she is Vice President of Communications. She is also involved with her church’s public relations ministry.

Gaillard is a graduate of Marquette University where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism. She also has a marketing research certificate from the AC Nielsen Burke Institute, where she completed courses related to focus group moderation and marketing research over a period of 1-1/2 years. For the past six years, Gaillard has taught public relations, part-time at Marquette University.
